Bagan Buddha Temple
Bagan is an ancient city situated in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. It served as the capital of the Pagan Kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries, which was the first kingdom to unify the regions that later became modern-day Myanmar. The city reached its peak during the 11th to 13th centuries, where over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries were built on the Bagan plains. Today, visitors can still witness the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas, making it one of the most significant archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. The temples’ architecture reflects a unique fusion of Indian and Southeast Asian styles, with intricate carvings and frescoes adorning the walls. In 2019, Bagan was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its outstanding cultural value and contribution to human civilization.
