The Bell AH-1Z Viper is an attack helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter for the United States Marine Corps. It is the latest version of the AH-1 Cobra family, which first flew in 1965. The AH-1Z Viper features a four-blade, bearingless, composite rotor system, upgraded avionics and weapons systems, and a new target acquisition and sighting system that provides the pilot with a greater field of view and improved night vision capability. The helicopter is capable of carrying a variety of weapons, including air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, rockets, and guns. It has been used in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
