Standing tall at 555 feet, the Washington Monument is a magnificent obelisk situated on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. This iconic structure was erected in honor of George Washington, who valiantly led the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and later became the first President of the United States.

The construction of this historic monument commenced in 1848 under the guidance of architects Robert Mills and Thomas Lincoln Casey Sr. Officially established on January 31, 1848, it took four decades for the monument to reach completion, finally opening its doors to the public on October 9, 1888. The Washington Monument spans three floors and serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of one of America’s most influential founding fathers.
